The popular Taste of Home Cooking School is returning on May 14 to the Lightsey Chapel at Charleston Southern University.
The show is an entertaining demonstration by culinary specialist Michelle Roberts that includes step-by-step directions to popular recipes. Attendees will learn how to prepare simple yet delicious dishes that the entire family will love.
Whether you’re an expert in the kitchen already, or just starting out, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Doors open at 4 p.m. Come early to experience a large variety of vendor booths set up with information. Some will have samples and other free items. Dinner will also be available at the cafeteria next to Lightsey Chapel.
Pat Marable of Summerville has attended the show for the past four years.
“I enjoy the vendors and watching the grocery bagging contest,” Marable said. “There are many good recipes that are made during the show, and it’s all very entertaining.”
Roberts will take the stage to create 10 wonderful recipes, from main dishes to desserts. Door prizes will be given away in drawings throughout Roberts’ performance.
Terry Haas from HGTV’s Designed to Sell will co-emcee the event with Independent Publisher Ellen Priest.
“This is one of our favorite events every year,” Priest said. “I love the energy of the crowd. We have great vendors, including First Citizens as our presenting sponsor, who will not only have great samples to hand out to attendees pre-show but have great prizes to give away during the show.”
The event, which always attracts huge crowds, is hosted by the Summerville Journal Scene, The Gazette, and The Berkeley Independent. There are a limited number of tickets available; purchase them online at www.journalscene.com/tasteofhome or stop by the Summerville Journal Scene office at 104 E. Doty Ave. Summerville.
