Summerville rider claims National Reserve Grand Champion title

Addie Ledbetter placed second in the Individual JV Novice Fences High School Class at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Finals to claim a National Reserve Grand Champion title.
Ledbetter, a resident of Summerville and senior at Fort Dorchester High School, competed against 19 national finalists from around the country during the competition, held April 19 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y.
Ledbetter qualified for the IEA National Finals with her second-place finish among the 17 competitors in her class in the IEA Zone 4 finals conducted in Murfreesboro, Tenn., April 23 in competition against riders from five southeastern U.S. states.
With the conclusion of the IEA National Finals, Ledbetter completed her third and final year of riding with the IEA Storybook Farm High School Team, hosted by the home farm for the College of Charleston Equestrian Team. This is the second consecutive year Ledbetter advanced to the IEA National Finals. The Storybook High School Team was the overall winner of the team competition at the 2013 IEA National Championships with the middle school team finishing in second place in the middle school division.
Ledbetter is coached by Alicia Story and has been riding since the age of 6 and competing in equestrian events since she was 7. Ledbetter credits much of her success in equestrian competition to her talented and caring coach and riding instructors; Berkeley Gibbs (Black Bottom Stables, Ladson, SC) and Trish Russo (Middleton Equestrian Center, Charleston, SC).
