Local Red Cross Assists 1 Resident Displaced by Fire in Dorchester County
St. George, S.C., Friday, May 3rd, 2013 – The local American Red Cross provided immediate emergency assistance to 1 individual that was displaced by a home fire Friday in Dorchester County.
The Red Cross provided referrals to partnering agencies, funds to replace clothing and food as well as a personal hygiene kit, which included basic essential items such as toothbrush, soap and shampoo to the individual.
In total, 1 unit was affected by the fire.
On average the American Red Cross, Palmetto SC Region responds to a disaster every 6.5 hours. Since the beginning of the fiscal year, July 1, 2012, the Palmetto SC Region has responded to the needs of 1,423 families and 4,650 individuals affected by disaster. The Palmetto SC Region is made up of seven Red Cross Chapters that span 35-counties of South Carolina.
