Ray and Kathryn Huber will celebrate 60 years of marriage on May 6.
Married in 1953 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, the couple raised their children and worked in the Charleston area from 1957 to 2005. They made their home in Summerville beginning in 1975.
Ray Huber worked in Real Estate and homebuilding with Westvaco Development of Summerville in the 1970s and 80s, and with George H. Hamrick & Sons of Broad St., Charleston in the 1960s and early 70s.
Mr. Huber formerly served as a member of Dorchester County Economic Development, as president of Charleston Home Builders, and as chairman of the Dorchester County Republican Party and as president of Dorchester County Aeronautics Board. During his time on the Aeronautics Board Mr. Huber was a leader in the establishment of the Summerville Airport at its present location.
Mrs. Huber worked as a secretary for Summerville Radio Station WYFH and as a secretary for T. S. Way's Garage on James Island in the 1960s and raised the couple's three sons: Dr. Timothy Huber of Summerville, Michael Huber of Summerville and Kurt Huber of Anderson, S.C.
The Hubers have nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The Hubers now reside in Anderson, S.C.
