Provided -- Pinewood Preparatory School was the winner of $1,000 in Dr. Reagin’s contest.

Reagin Orthodontics recently launched a “Supporting Local Schools” initiative as a call to action for the local community to become more involved in fulfilling the needs of its schools.
"Education is at the heart of community success,” Dr. Reagin said. “People move to an area because of the quality of its schools, and great schools yield strong advocacy in return. So the entire community prospers as a result of supporting local education.”
On May 1, the three Summerville schools with the most votes in Reagin Orthodontics’ social media-based initiative were placed into a hat for a random drawing to determine which school would receive a designated donation amount.
All Summerville area schools that opted to participate were automatically entered into a voting application on Reagin Orthodontics’ page on Facebook.  The schools were given information and handouts to explain the rules and provide the steps for how to vote.
Once in the hands of the local schools and their respective PTAs, participation began to explode.
“I had friends tell me that they’d received invitations to vote from other parents in town. And because the attention was squarely focused on the needs of the schools, it made me believe that we were hitting our mark; that awareness of these needs was reaching the community,” said Dr. Reagin.
By midnight May 1, all the votes had been cast, and the three schools with the most votes – Flowertown Elementary School, Pinewood Preparatory School and Dubose Middle School – were put into a hat for the drawing and the winners were drawn.  The drawing was recorded and put onto YouTube, then shared on Reagin Orthodontics’ Facebook page.
The grand prize recipient of $1,000 was Pinewood Preparatory School. Dubose Middle School received $500, and Flowertown Elementary received $250.
During the week in which the donations were presented, a number of teachers reached out to Dr. Reagin with a special request, “Would you be willing to offer a discount to teachers?”
This request struck at the heart of Reagin Orthodontics’ dedication to supporting local education and educators.  Thus Dr. Reagin will provide an automatic 10 percent off of full treatment to any school employee and their immediate family members for treatment started between now and the end of the year.
“I didn’t think of it (providing this discount) until we started getting the requests,” Reagin said. “ But it’s a perfect fit and concludes this year’s ‘Supporting Local Schools’ in an ideal way.”
