The Town of Summerville held its annual Flowertown Tennis Grand Prix this spring.
More than 50 participants came out for the tournament held at the Doty Park courts. Champions were crowned in 11 different divisions.
“We were pleased with the turnout as well as the competition,” Town Tennis Director Nancy Sumersett said.
The 2013 Flowertown Tennis Grand Prix Champions are: Kevin Beers and Liz Payne (6.0 Mixed Doubles), Bryce Lowell and Lauren Lowell (7.0 Mixed Doubles), Sally McGinnis and Jeff Nixon (8.0 Mixed Doubles), Jarrett Linden and Tara Lehr (9.0 Mixed Doubles), Ron Jaicks and Kenny Snider (7.0 Men’s Doubles), Jennifer Klos and Deidre Stiles (5.0 Women’s Doubles), Betsy Frazier and Tamara Hale (6.0 Women’s Doubles), Delores Thomas and Ellen Morgan (7.0 Women’s Doubles), Jennifer Klos (2.5 Women’s Singles), Bryce Lowell 3.0 (Men’s Singles) and Joe Boyd (4.0 Men’s Singles).
The Doty Park courts will see a lot of action this summer as the Town is offering all sorts of tennis camps, leagues, lessons and clinics.
Camps for beginning, intermediate and advanced players age 5 and up are scheduled for June 10-13, June 24-27, July 8-11, July 15-18, July 22-25 and Aug 5-8. The fee is $115 per camper per week and a $50 deposit is required and should be sent to: Town of Summerville, (Attention Kathy Windham), 200 S. Main Street, Summerville S.C. 29483.
Camp times are from 8 a.m. until noon and lunches are provided.
