Nine years ago my husband and I made a phone call to Oakbrook Child Development Center in hopes of enrolling our one-year-old daughter in their early education program.
At the time the center was chosen largely because of its proximity to our home. However, as my husband and I watched our little girl blossom and thrive through the early childhood program at Oakbrook, we quickly knew our reasons for attending the center were far more than just proximity to home. Our daughter was engaged in meaningful learning activities, challenged to reach beyond her comfort zone to learn new things, but most of all, she was loved – loved by every staff member in the center.
Fast forward nine years: That August phone call has grown to so much more.
In the next week, our youngest daughter will graduate and move on to “big kid” school, and we will have to tearfully say goodbye to the wonderful staff that has become like family to us, While there will be no more daily stops to pick her up from school, the experiences, memories and loved shared with the staff of Oakbrook Child Development Center will forever be in our hearts. Thank you for being such an amazing center that encourages a lifelong love of learning in each and every one of your students. We know you will continue to share this love as many more Marleys and Lilys come through your doors.
