Pinewood has landed more than a dozen athletes on all-state teams.
The South Carolina Independent School Association recently released its list of athletes receiving All-state honors for spring sports programs.
After leading the Pinewood boys’ golf team to a state runner-up performance this spring,
Richard Hubbard was named the SCISA Golf Player of the Year. Katelyn Dambaugh was also named to the SCISA All-state Golf Team.
The Pinewood boys’ soccer team, which also finished 2013 as the state runner-up, landed three players on the All-state Boys’ Soccer Team – Jarrett Londergan, Ryan Moore and Peter Ruby.
Meanwhile, Pinewood’s Katie Black and Lauren Cercopely were named to the SCISA Girls’ All-state Team.
Pitcher/utility player John McMicking and catcher/outfielder Johnny O’Shaughnessy were named to the SCISA Baseball All-state Team.
Senior slugger Austin Utsey was named to the SCISA Softball All-state Team.
Distance runner Maryah Nasir was named to the SCISA Girls’ All-state Track Team.
SCISA officials also recently released their All-state list for the winter sport of basketball.
The Pinewood Girls’ Basketball Team, which claimed it’s third consecutive state championship this year, had four players receive All-state honors. Bri Boyd, Maria Corella, Raygon Hendrix and Jenifer Rhodes were all named to the SCISA Girls’ Basketball All-state Team.
Pinewood coach Nancy Beatty was named the Coach of the Year for the girls’ Class AAA division.
Northwood Academy also had athletes receive All-state honors. They included Cole Beaver and Tyler Lares (boys’ soccer), Travaughn Major (boys’ basketball) and Amber Campbell (girls’ basketball).
