Blood shortage, donors needed

  • Tuesday, June 11, 2013

The American Red Cross is experiencing a blood shortage of O negative blood and is at critical levels for all blood types.
Summertime often means that the blood supply is at low levels due to donors vacationing and spending time with family and friends.
On Friday June 14, Trident Medical Center will host a blood drive for the community from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors will be entered in a drawing to win a $1,000 American Express gift card.
The American Red Cross is currently experiencing a reduction in O negative donors,” said Christy Joyner, medical technologist with Trident Health. “Presently, we are at critical levels for all blood types.”
To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-733-2767 or schedule your appointment online: www.redcrossblood.org and enter tridentmed as the sponsor. Walk-ins are welcome but donors with appointments will be taken first.
