Sometimes the smallest of things can have the biggest impact. Friday, it was one small squirrel that took out an entire city.
Friday morning the power went out in much of Summerville, leaving 4,887 SCE&G customers in the dark, so to speak.
Traffic lights were out, businesses lost the ability to do business, police and fire personnel had to direct traffic. In short, it could have been a disaster. However SCE&G employees had at least half its customers back up and running by 11 a.m. and the other half by 11:30 a.m.
Kim Asbill, SCE&G spokesperson, said in all, customers were only without power for about 45 minutes.
SCE&G used its Twitter account – @SCEGnews and Facebook to keep customers up to date on the status of the outage.
