The purpose of the Hurricane Expo is to promote hurricane awareness, safety, and all-hazards preparedness.  All area residents are welcome to attend this free event and tour emergency equipment while interacting with local and state public safety officials as well as other local emergency support agencies.  EMD offers trainings and public awareness events yearlong to better prepare citizens and their families when faced with disaster.  The information provided during this family-friendly event will identify services that are available to the community and will provide point of contacts for these services pre- and post-disaster.

The expo will include a variety of vendors to engage all ages that will include representation from Teen CERT Explorer Post, Safe Kids Trident Area, Medical Reserve Corps, American Red Cross, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, South Carolina Emergency Management Department, and various emergency services to include local and area fire departments, and many more.

In the midst of hurricane season, it is important to keep citizens informed and to encourage them to start making preparations now, before any storm threatens the area.  For more information on developing family disaster plans and supply kits, citizens are urged to visit www.dorchestercounty.net/emergencymanagement.
