Roger Lee/Journal Scene -- Charlie Fessler contributed in the field and at the plate Friday.

After dropping its opening game of the season to Berkeley, the Summerville American Legion Baseball Juniors Green Team has reeled off eight straight wins.
On Friday, the team defeated Moncks Corner 4-1 on the road to keep its winning streak alive.
After a good performance by Andrew Kenny on the mound, Chad Mathis entered in relief and earned the pitching win. Then Charlie Fessler closed the game out for Summerville.
Fessler also led Summerville at the plate, going 3 for 4. Gabe Crowder was 2 for 3 and Steven Dibble also had two hits, one of which was a double.
All of the team’s games have been against fellow League 1 opponents so Summerville Green is in the driver’s seat for playoff seeding coming down the home stretch of the regular season, which is scheduled to end July 3 with a game that pits Summerville Green against Summerville Gold.
On Tuesday, after press time, Summerville Green was supposed to play a makeup game against Goose Creek. The two Summerville teams are scheduled to play each other for the third time this season this Friday.
In other League 1 action this week, Summerville Gold is scheduled to host Berkeley June 19.
