Hurricane tour rolls into Charleston this summer
Patriots Point Links is set to host the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Charleston Junior Open July 27-28.
Held at a venue that includes great views of the Charleston Harbor, the event is sure to feature a competitive field. Winners in both boys’ divisions as well as the older girls’ division will receive AJGA Performance Stars if the field size requirements are met. There are also South Carolina Junior Golf Association points and Tarheel Youth Golf Association points available. Winners in all four divisions will be invited to the HJGT’s 2013 Tour Championship. Winners also receive a $50 gift card to Kikkor Golf. Top 10 finishers receive points towards the inaugural Hurricane Cup and the year end honors.
The event will be a 36-hole, stroke-play tournament. The first round begins with tee times scheduled from 7:30-10 a.m. on Saturday and the second round beginning with tee times from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday. The registration fee is $179 for members and $199 for non-members.
For membership information or information on the tournament, visit www.hjgt.org/basic-membership/ or contact the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour headquarters at (904) 379-2697, or at info@hjgt.org.
Patriots Point Links is settled among the banks of the Charleston Harbor. The signature 17th hole features an island green and it has been awarded the “Best Par 3 in the Lowcountry.” The Wilard Byrd links style design combined with the winds that come in from the harbor will test the junior golfers for all 36 holes.
The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) was founded in 2008 with the intention of providing junior golfers between the ages of 11-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. Golfers who participate on the tour will compete in one of four age divisions: Boys 15-18, Boys 11-14, Girls 11-14 and Girls 15-18. Based out of Jacksonville, Fla., the tour administers events all across the nation, with stops in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Ohio.
