The Summerville Visitor’s Center in conjunction with DREAM is in search of artwork to display on a Town post card.
The Summerville Visitor’s Center is launching an art contest in search of the newest design for a Town of Summerville post card. The winner of the contest will have their artwork featured on the front of the newest Summerville post card and will receive a gift basket including prizes from historic downtown Summerville businesses and a painting class from Bottles ‘n Brushes.
Ages 13 and up are eligible to apply to the art contest. All art entries must be received by Bottles ‘n Brushes via email at email@example.com by 5 p.m. on July 24. All submissions must be emailed in the form of a high quality JPEG image. Please save the JPEG file as your first initial.yourlastname (ex: J.Smith). In the subject line of the email write: Sweet Tea Trail Postcard Contest and in the body of the email include: your name, contact number and a 100-150 word artist statement.
The design must be a horizontal drawing, painting, photography or graphic combination not to exceed 16x20 inches. Each entry may be drawn in any medium desired by the contestant. Contestants may not submit more than one entry. All submissions must reflect the theme “Birthplace of Sweet Tea” or the “Sweet Tea Trail.” The design should be true to the Town of Summerville and its Southern roots. Paintings submitted must be the artist’s original artwork. If your artwork infringes on another’s copyright, contains lewd images or profanity it will be disqualified. By entering the competition, the artist grants a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images of your artwork to the Chamber, Visitor’s Center and DREAM. That enables the organizations to showcase the artwork on the new postcard, on websites, in newsletters, and in other forms of communication and advertising.
All submissions will be posted to an album held on the Summerville Visitor Center Facebook page on Monday, July 29. The entry with the most likes at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 2 will become the new face of our Summerville postcard (Dimensions: 5.5 x 4.25").
