Dr. Andrew McMarlin specializes in sports medicine and musculoskeletal care. His background as a national rowing champion and coach helps him relate to his patients. "I have a good grasp of an athlete's mindset. People really want to get better and get back to doing what they love." He fell in love with rowing while at the U.S. Naval Academy and coached there after graduating. A seven-time national rowing champion, he also won the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1996 in the double scull. In more recent years, he has made his mark with the U.S. National Dragonboat Team as a six-time world-champion gold medalist and is a current world record holder in the 500-meter event. His medical practice at Palmetto Sports Medicine allows him to work with a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. For example, people who are struggling with arthritis. "All of us, in some respects, are athletes every day," says Dr. McMarlin, who is board specialized in family medicine and sports medicine.
