Caregivers Support Group
Tuesday, July 16 • 7 p.m.
St Paul's Caregivers Support Group led by Carolina Hospice Care will help caregivers recognize when to request hospice care for loved ones and will outline the process and the services hospice care provides to patients and families. The program will define reasonable expectations, discussions with fellow caregivers, tips, barriers, resources, strategies, advice and comfort.

Old Fort sets public meeting
The Old Fort Fire District will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at its headquarters at 4214 Ladson Road, Ladson, SC at 8 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to give an opportunity to become acquainted with a proposed Rural Development project consisting of the purchase and rehab of the existing location at 936 Orangeburg Road.
Citizens will have the opportunity to comment on such items as economic and environmental impact, service area and alternatives to the project.
Class of 1973

Tuesday, July 16, 1 p.m. -- Sit and Get Fit: Increases circulation without over exertion, improves flexibility and range of motion, and gradually strengthens and tones muscles, all from a seated position. Led by Instructor Ed Redmond.
Wednesday. July 17, 1 p.m. -- Clogging: Put on your dancing shoes and join us as Instructor Julia Tourtellotte teaches beginner and intermediate level clogging. Wednesdays 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Thursday, July 18, 10 a.m. -- Nutrition Series Speaker: Eating to Prevent a Stroke - Jean Muller is a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist recently retired from Summerville Medical Center. She will be teaching monthly classes on eating to stay healthy. This month she will discuss what to eat to help prevent strokes.
Friday, July 19, 1 p.m. -- Creative Crafters: We will be learning to make paper decorations on Friday, July 19th 1 to 3 p.m. for Halloween and Christmas to be sold in the Gift Shop. There will be other projects available to work on using craft items donated to DSI. We will also be sewing bags and pillows so please plan on attending. These Items are sold in the gift shop and all proceeds are used to support the services and programs at Dorchester Seniors.
Coastal Center Cup
The Parents and Guardians Association of the Coastal Center, an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 1982, will host its second annual Coastal Center Cup Golf Tournament at the Westcott Plantation Golf Club on Sept. 28. Tee time is 9 a.m. The registrtion fee is $75 per player or $300 per foursome and includes green fee, cart fee, bag valet, cart signs, scorecards, scoreboards and a Lowcountry shrimp boil immediately following the tournament. Summerville Girls Softball has set three registration dates this month for girls interested in the 2013 Fall Season. Registration will be held at the Jerry Blackwell (Gahagan Park) Athletic Complex office from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. July 13, 20 and 27. The Fall Season is an instructional season for players age 7-25. Age divisions will be established based on the number of registrants and their ages. The registration fee is $60 and a birth certificate will be required for those who have never played for Summerville Girls Softball. The Summerville Soccer Club will host walk-up registration from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. July 13 at Dick’s Sporting Goods, located at 355 Azalea Square Blvd. in Summerville. The first 30 registrants will receive a $10 gift certificate.
Cathedral Sports is offering a variety of summer camps where kids can learn about and participate in numerous activities. Cathedral of Praise will host basketball, soccer, karate and dance camps in July. Cost for each camp is $65 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt. AR Volleyball Camp
Ashley Ridge High School is hosting a volleyball camp for athletes in grades 4 through 12. Registration for the camp, to be held from 9 a.m. until noon July 22-25, is $65 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt. Players will learn a variety of skills such as serving, passing, bumping, spiking and setting and play actual games. Doty Courts Tennis
The Town of Summerville is offering all sorts of tennis camps, leagues, lessons and clinics this summer. Camps for beginning, intermediate and advanced players age 5 and up are scheduled for July 15-18, July 22-25 and Aug 5-8. The fee is $115 per camper per week and a $50 deposit is required. Camp times are from 8 a.m. until noon and lunches are provided. The Town is also offering a Mixed Doubles League, Private Sessions and Assessment, Group Sessions, Adult Clinics (2.5-3.5), Beginner Junior Clinics, Junior Tennis Camp and Cardio Tennis. Junior golf camp
The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation is having registration for its summer junior golf camps for ages 8-14. Led by Perry Green, PGA Director of Instruction and 2010 Carolinas PGA Junior Golf Leader, these camps will provide youth the opportunity to play and receive tips on Tee shots, Approach shots, Sand shots, Putting, rules and etiquette. Morning session will be offered July 15-18. Registration fee is $195 per week with a discount available for a second session and families registering more than one camper. MEDcare Urgent Care has launched its 2013 Sports Physical Challenge, which will run through Aug. 31. Both MEDcare locations (8720 Dorchester Road, North Charleston and 1850 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston) will offer students a sports physical for only $20 and $5 will be donated back to each school per sports physical to participating schools as designated by the student or parent. The school with the most sports physicals performed at MEDcare during this promotional period will receive an additional $500 donation. Both clinics are open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
