Ted Brisson, MD
Dr. Ted Brisson had the advantage of training with the revolutionary da Vinci surgical system starting in 2005, just a few years after its introduction, while in residency at the Mayo Clinic. Now, the urologist performs more than 100 da Vinci surgeries a year at the South Carolina Institute for Robotic Surgery, with many patients traveling to him from other parts of the state. While Dr. Brisson was the first in South Carolina to use da Vinci to repair vaginal vault prolapse, most of his da Vinci surgeries treat either kidney cancer or prostate cancer. Da Vinci’s 3D magnification allows him better visualization and greater precision, which can mean less blood loss and faster recovery times.
“I saw what it was like for my grandfathers to go through prostate surgery. My patients don’t have to face that same kind of prolonged recovery.”
