DD2 offers first in-service technology training

Teachers, administrators and staff spent a busy two days this week learning new teaching methods and strengthening current ones using technology at the district’s first Instructional Technology Institute.
The two-day event, Wednesday and Thursday, was held at Ashley Ridge High School and sponsored by a number of corporate partners including Pearson Education, Smart Technologies and The WH Platts Company.
The institute had two breakout sessions each day with breakfast and lunch provided by sponsors.
As of Monday, many of the sessions were “sold out” and the response, according to administrators, was overwhelmingly enthusiastic.
Speakers included Superintendent of Schools Joe Pye and Director of High Schools Dr. Kenneth Wilson.
Keynote speakers were Mitchel Davis, founder & CBO of BiblioBoard “Preparing the Future: Core Competencies in a Technology Workspace” and Nt Etuk, Founder & Executive Chairman of DimensionU, Inc. “Game Changer: The Emerging Technology Landscape in Education ”
Sponsors also provided prizes and raffles. Attendees earned up to eight technology and renewal points for attending.
