The Parks Field American Majors All-stars, on Wednesday, advanced to the championship series of the Dixie Youth Baseball Majors state tournament.
Parks Field opened the tournament in Clemson with four straight wins to advance to the championship series, which began Thursday after press time. The team was scheduled to play Lake Marion, which needed two wins over Parks Field to avoid elimination.
The winner of the series will advance to represent South Carolina in the Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series to be held in Mississippi.
The Parks Field AAA Minors All-stars weren’t as fortunate. That team was eliminated from the state tournament being held at Wescott Park in North Charleston after suffering a loss to Hartsville Northern Wednesday.
The Parks Field Minors finished that tournament with a 3-2 record. The team’s overall record for the all-star season is 9-2.
Midland, which handed Parks Field its first loss of the all-star season, entered play Wednesday as the only undefeated team in the Minors tournament.
