Sweet tea genius

  • Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Dear Judy,
I'd like to send a sincere note of congratulations and admiration to the marketing genius (or geniuses) that suggested that Summerville seize the opportunity to declare that it is the "birthplace of sweet tea."
On my extensive travels, no longer am I explaining that “Summerville is near Charleston.”  Instead, I'm telling folks that I hail from Summerville, SC, the birthplace of sweet tea!  (I then cheekily offer that Charleston only wishes it had the heritage that Summerville has.)  Kudos to our local marketing folks: Job well done!
