Steven Alexander “Steve” Benton, 62, of Summerville, husband of Peggy Benton, passed away Wednesday evening, July 31, 2013 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Dorchester Presbyterian Church, 10290 Dorchester Road, Summerville. Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401. Tax I.D. #95-4418411.
Steve was born August 22, 1950 in Concord, North Carolina, son of the late Daughton Alexander Benton and Nellie Jane Newton Benton. He was a graduate of Concord High School. He enjoyed motorcycles, jet skiing, remote control airplanes and cars. He was a private pilot of his own plane and had a love for anything adventurous. He was a member of Dorchester Presbyterian Church and was store manager at Lowes in Summerville.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: three sons: Michael Alexander Benton of Summerville, Greggory Alexander Benton (Wendy) of Memphis, Tennessee and Steven Alexander Benton (Alison) of Alamogordo, New Mexico, five grandchildren: Grayson, Kate, Libby, Leanne and Lacey, his aunt Doris and uncle O’Brien Benton and cousins all of Concord, North Carolina.
