Nancy Mace, the first female graduate of The Citadel and a businesswoman, has announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2014.
Mace will challenge incumbent Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham in the contest.
Mace, who appeared at the Berkeley Republican Breakfast earlier this month, announced the challenge in a release to the media.
Mace is a wife, mother and small business owner. She holds a Masters in mass communication from the University of Georgia. She is the author of In The Company of Men: A Woman at The Citadel (Simon and Schuster, 2001).
She is the daughter of retired Army Brigadier General Emory Mace and schoolteacher Dr. Anne Mace, PhD.
