Common core standards to be discussed…
Are the common core standards a federal takeover of education, and will our local teachers lose control over what our children learn and how they learn it, as some fear?
Join State Sen. Larry Grooms at the Lowcountry Conservatives in Action meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3, for an in-depth discussion of common core standards as well as school choice. Sen. Grooms will give an update on legislation he has co-sponsored on these vital education issues.
The standards were passed by the state school board in 2010 without a cost analysis, and based on a draft version. Criticism of the standards say they are experimental and untested…will our children be part of a giant national test?
The meeting starts at7 p.m. at the Country Inn & Suites (behind the Cracker Barrel).
