Patriots route Panthers
Fort Dorchester jumped out to a 41-0 halftime lead and crushed Carolina Forest 62-14 in an impressive season opener.
“The defense played well,” Patriots’ coach Steve LaPrad said. “We pulled our starters in the second half and everyone got a chance to play.”
The Patriots rolled for nearly 700 total yards and had three running backs have big nights.
Sophomore Datron James tallied 278 yards rushing and scored a touchdown. Senior Matt Murray added 165 yards and two scores while senior Nahshon Cyrus lit up the Carolina Forest (0-2) defense for 178 yards and three TDs.
It is a sound start for Fort Dorchester, which is coming off a 5-6 season.
Fort Dorchester travels to Cane Bay next week. The Cobras fell 28-0 to Summerville in their season opener last week.
