Birdwatchers in Beidler Forest MARK MUSSELMAN/BEIDLER FOREST

The Audubon staff at Francis Beidler Forest is excited to announce that it will start offering free bird-watching walks in the town of Summerville. These walks will take place on the second and third Saturdays of each month and will run from 8-10 a.m. Walks will take place at Azalea Park (2nd Saturday) and the Sawmill Branch Trail (3rd Saturday), with the first two walks scheduled for September 14th and 21st.

These walks are designed to engage the public in learning more about the common birds (and other wildlife) that live in our area. Both trails offer interesting bird-watching opportunities while walking on paved, flat terrain. No registration is necessary. All ages and experience levels are invited. Any interested individuals are asked to meet Audubon staff at the designated parking area at 7:45 a.m. on the morning of the walk. For more information, contact Matt Johnson at Francis Beidler Forest (843-462-2150 or mgjohnson@audubon.org).

Audubon staff also offer an early-morning guided bird-watching walk on the boardwalk at Francis Beidler Forest in Harleyville, SC. This program takes place on the first Saturday of each month. This walk requires pre-registration and there is a $10/person fee to participate. See the full fall schedule below for more information, or visit the Beidler Forest website: http://beidlerforest.audubon.org/.
