Pinewood’s swim team recorded 45 season-best times during the Palmetto Christian Academy Invitational swim meet Saturday at I’On swim club in Mount Pleasant.
The Pinewood girls finished in seventh place and the Panther boys finished in fourth.
The meet began with the Girls 200-yard Medley Relay. Samantha Hilleshiem, Laura Xiaowan, Emily Pelcher and Katie Smoak teamed up to place eighth.
In the 50 Freestyle Summer Ricciardi placed second and Emily Shuler placed 11th. Ricciardi also placed in the 100 Butterfly, finishing fifth with a time of 1:10.25. Hilleshiem placed 10th in the same event.
Matti Easterday had an eighth-place finish in the 100 Freestyle with a personal-best time of 1:05.44. Shuler finished in ninth place in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:38.63.
The team of Shuler, Smoak, Anna Rook and Katie Stagliano placed fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Stagliano, a freshman, also finished in 9th in the 100 Backstroke. Finally, the team of Pelcher, Shuler, Hilleshiem and Elizabeth Soyka ended the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
The Pinewood boys also had a great meet.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Louis Easterday, Jacob Jurgensmeyer, Michael Saeger, and Ray Mennetti finished in eighth place. Saeger and Easterday also placed seventh and ninth respectively in the 200 Individual Medley.
Eighth-grader Connor Campbell had a personal-best time in the 200 Free and placed 10th. Freshman Nathan Greenslit just out-touched teammate Ray Mennetti in the 50 Freestyle as they placed ninth and 11th. Mennetti also placed seventh in the 100 Butterfly.
Eighth-grader Krish Patel had a personal-best time of 1:01.79 in the 100 to earn a 10th place ranking.
The Pinewood boys dominated the 500 Freestyle with Nathan Greenslit winning the event, Krish Patel placing fourth, Connor Campbell placing sixth, and Louis Easterday placing seventh.
The team of Easterday, Patel, Campbell, and Greenslit finished in seventh place in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
Jacob Jurgensmeyer placed 10th in the 100 Breaststroke.
Lastly, Mennetti, Greenslit, Patel, and Saeger teamed up for a fourth place finish in the 400 Free Relay.
The Panthers will compete in Hilton Head next weekend.
