The Summerville Restaurant Association will present the Second Annual Sweet Tea Festival in conjunction with DREAM’s Third Thursday September 19th from 5-8PM. There will be 8 local restaurants featuring tea related specials and competing for the title of Best Sweet Tea in Summerville. A ballot will be included with the purchase of a new commemorative mug. In addition to the restaurants, Ice Age, a local ice sculptor, will compete with a surprise tea entry chilled by his special ice. The Charleston Tea Plantation will be represented and Pluff Mud T-shirts will have tea related merchandise for sale.
The Restaurant Association has selected Meals on Wheels of Summerville to be this year’s charity benefactor. They prepare and deliver hot mid-day meals to 155 people each weekday, and its volunteers provide vital social contact to the recipients. They receive no government funding. Meals on Wheels will receive a portion of mug sales and representatives will be present to explain their mission in the Greater Summerville area.
Last year’s event was a great success and mugs sold out quickly. If you would like to help please contact association president Dustin (Summerville.firstname.lastname@example.org). See you downtown for Third Thursday!
