At 6:50 a.m. Friday, a fatal crash took the life of Ronald Wayne Stewart, 59, of Summerville, at the intersection of Trolley Road and Savannah Round at the entrance to Irongate.
According to SCHP Cpl. Sonny Collins, Stewart was traveling south on Trolley, on a Harley Davidson motorcycle, when a Blazer attempted to make a left turn into Irongate subdivision and failed to yield to the motorcycle.
Stewart was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene. According to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet, he suffered massive head trauma and multiple extremity fractures. Nisbet said Stewart was on his way to work which is about a mile from the crash.
Identities of the Blazer operator has not been released and the crash is under investigation by the SCHP.
