In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the sisters of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Summerville Alumnae chapter have planned a prayer vigil and silent march in remembrance of those who have suffered and died as a result of domestic violence. The event is open to the public and will take place on Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Hutchinson Square.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is a historically black social sorority with more than 1,000 chapters throughout the world; the Summerville Alumnae chapter was formed in 1988. For more information go to www.SummervilleDST.org.
