Dorchester County sheriff’s deputies have arrested David Ryan Shelton charging him with possession of a stolen handgun and petit larceny.
The gun in question is that of a Folly Beach police officer. The officer allowed Shelton to stay in her Summerville home as he was an old friend and homeless, according to the incident report. When she went to clean her gun, she discovered it and her duty belt were missing.
Shelton was arrested last week by Summerville police during a traffic stop.
The gun has not been recovered.
