Cuthbert Classic is coming up

  • Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Summerville Country Club has opened registration for the 2013 Cuthbert Classic golf tournament.

Held in memory of June and Tommy Cuthbert, the annual tournament raises funds for the Tommy Cuthbert Scholarship Fund sponsored by the Dorchester Free School Board. The fund provides scholarships to college-bound students from Dorchester County based on academic promise with consideration given to the financial need of applicants.

The 2013 Cuthbert Classic is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start on Oct. 27 at the George Miler Golf Course. The tournament follows a two-person Captain’s Choice format and golfers can register as a team or an individual.

Registration is $75 per player and includes the cart fee, one mulligan, one red tee, a closest-to-the-pin contest, dinner, awards and a donation to the Tommy Cuthbert Scholarship Fund.

The tournament is open to all golfers. Men will play the white tees; women and juniors will play the red tees; and seniors will play the yellow tees.

Registration is open until Oct. 25. For more information, contact Pro Bray Blanton at 873-2210, extension one or Suzanne Blanton at sblanton@knology.net.

Sponsorship opportunities for the tournament are available with hole sponsorships starting at $100. Prize donations and other contributions are needed and are tax deductible.
