The Summerville Takedown Club will hold registration from 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 5-7 outside the SHS mini gym. Cost of registration is $75. The fourth annual Nephcure 5K run/walk is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 3 at Wescott Plantation. The race is designed to help raise kidney disease awareness. Proceeds go to kidney disease research at MUSC and the NephCure Foundation. Newington Elementary School’s 12th annual Run with the Dolphins 5K Race/Walk and Mile Fun Run is scheduled for Oct. 26. Open to all, the 5K Race will begin at 8 a.m. The Mile Fun Run is for those age 12 and under and is scheduled to start at 9:10 a.m. Music will be provided by 95SX and all runners/walkers will receive a colorful race t-shirt. Registration is open for the 2013 Cuthbert Classic golf tournament. Held in memory of June and Tommy Cuthbert, the annual tournament raises funds for the Tommy Cuthbert Scholarship Fund. Registration is $75 per player and includes the cart fee, one mulligan, one red tee, a closest-to-the-pin contest, dinner, awards and a donation to the scholarship fund. The tournament is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start on Oct. 27 at the George Miler Golf Course. The Summerville Family YMCA has opened registration for its Co-Ed Youth (ages 5-15) Flag Football program. Registration is available at any YMCA location or online (www.summervilleymca.org) through Oct. 28. The fee is $40 for Y members or $80 for potential members. Practices begin Nov. 25 and the season runs Dec. 7 through Feb. 8. Most games are played on Saturdays but each team will have at least one week-night game.
The Summerville Soccer Club needs parents of players to sign up for volunteer days. There is a schedule posted on the website (www.summervillesoccerclub.com/Volunteer/index_E.html ) for Game Days, Picture Day and Year-End Jamboree. The club needs volunteers for each.
