ShockWave Tryouts

ShockWave Baseball will have tryouts Nov. 16 at White Knoll High School for new players interested in filling openings on the Summer of 2014 Showcase Teams (15U - 18U). Golfing feat

Jim Allen had a double-eagle Nov. 10 on Summerville Country Club’s Hole 10. Jim Banks, Don Gudinas and Bill Bumeder witnessed the shot.

AR youth wrestling

Tech-Fall Wrestling Ashley Ridge will have registration for its youth wrestling program from 6-8 p.m. in the mini-gym Nov. 12-13. Registration for the season is $75 for first wrestler and $50 per sibling. Price includes t-shirt and quality coaching. Basketball and cheer registration

Cathedral Sports located off Ashley Phosphate road in North Charleston is hosting youth basketball and cheerleading. Registration is being held for boys and girls age 4 to 12 through Nov 18. Registration is $65, which includes shirt and shorts. Practices begin in December and games start in January and run through March. Happy Tails

The Happy Tails 5k race and Dog-mile Fun Run to benefit the Frances R. Willis SPCA are scheduled for Dec. 14. Owners are encouraged to have their dogs run with them during both events. The 5k race is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. and the Dog Mile (.7 mile) race will follow. Dogs must be leashed at all times. There will be a few SPCA dogs available to run/walk with interested participants (age 18 and older) for the Dog Mile. The racecourse is in the Tea Farm neighborhood off Highway 17-A. SSC volunteers

The Summerville Soccer Club needs parents of players to sign up for volunteer days. There is a schedule posted on the website (www.summervillesoccerclub.com/Volunteer/index_E.html ) for Game Days, Picture Day and Year-End Jamboree. The club needs volunteers for each. Contact volunteer coordinator Mary Rita Watson (maryritawat@yahoo.com) to schedule a time slot. There are also volunteer opportunities for the concession stand.
