Laquavia Alston

Summerville Music Club will meet on Mon, Dec. 2, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 206 Central Avenue at 7 p.m. Laquavia Alston, soloist, will be in concert.

Alston is a 2011 graduate of Charleston Southern University. She holds a bachelor’s in Music with an emphasis in Voice Performance. In the spring of 2012 she completed CSU’s Artist Certificate program. Repeatedly praised for her stage presence and majestic voice, Alston has made quite an impression on Charleston and surrounding areas.

She has received numerous awards, honors, and recognition. As a member of concert singers, Alston performed internationally throughout Italy and England. In the summer of 2012 she joined them as Canterbury Cathedral’s Choir member in Residence. No stranger to the concert scene, she has appeared as a featured and guest soloist with many of Charleston’s leading ensembles.

Her guest solo credits include, but are not limited to the 2009 Piccolo Spoleto Festival with the CSO Spirituals Ensemble in their Moses Hogan Tribute. In June, Alston was featured in the 2013 Piccolo Spoleto Festival as a part of the prestigious Spotlight Concert Series. Alston has also been featured as a soloist with Summerville’s own Singers of Summerville and Summerville Community Orchestra.

She will be accompanied by Kendrick Moses, a Summerville native who has been performing since the age of seven. Moses has found his calling as a very talented and sought after worship leader and artist.

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted for the club’s music study scholarships.
