At approximately 9:29 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 21, Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Walgreens at 9998 Dorchester Rd. in reference to an armed robbery, according to Cpt. Tony Phinney, Criminal Investigations Division commander.
After arriving on the scene and speaking with employees they were informed that a white male, later identified as Jonathon Carter, 30, Charleston, showed them a note telling them to give him pain pills.
Carter threatened that he had a gun and then showed one of the employees what appeared to be a gun in his waistband. Carter left the store and was followed by witnesses outside to where he was apprehended by deputies.
Phinney said investigators responded to the scene and continued the investigation and placed Carter under arrest for Armed Robbery. Upon further investigation, a co-defendant named David Mount, 32, Summerville, was also located nearby and arrested and will be charged with the armed robbery.
Mount and Carter were placed in the Dorchester County Detention Center where they are awaiting a bond hearing. The investigation is ongoing, said Phinney.
