DD2 employment leader

Dorchester District Two Board of Trustees heard the district Personnel Annual Report Nov. 25.

DD2 is one of the 20 largest employers in the county, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce, with an overall 4,000 some odd employees including part time, hourly and substitute teachers.

It employs 2,904 full time employees.

Of its certified personnel, 61 percent hold a Master’s degree or above. Personnel accounts for 85 percent of the district budget.

The district focuses on mentoring new teachers and on the retention of teachers.

It was further noted that the district would be reinstituting an annual recruitment fair. This year’s is scheduled for March 15, 2014.
