Arcadia Publishing, the nation’s leading publisher of local and regional books, has partnered with Walmart to launch The Community Corner. The first-of-its-kind program features dozens of local books; each hand-picked to appeal to the unique interests of Walmart customers on a store-by-store basis. The Community Corner is available in 35 Walmart stores in five Southeastern states, including stores in Summerville and Goose Creek.
The Community Corner’s diverse product offerings range from books featuring local college sports teams, to hometown pictorial histories, local activity books for kids, seasonal gardening guides, local guide books, regional cookbooks, true crime, and more.
The program is spearheaded by Book Distribution Services (BDS), a new business entity founded by Arcadia Publishing, specializes in local and regional product distribution. BDS partnered with dozens of publishers to provide Walmart shoppers with the best possible assortment of books for each store.
Offering customers unique product choices on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis reinforces Walmart’s commitment to being “the store of the community.” Richard Joseph, Arcadia CEO and founder of BDS, views the program as a natural next step for furthering both companies’ commitment to fulfilling the needs and interests of locals in their own communities.
“This new partnership with Walmart marries both companies’ commitment to supporting what’s important to customers in their own neighborhoods,” Joseph said.
