The Department of Transportation is planning to re-mark the intersection of Berlin G. Myers Parkway and E. Carolina Avenue within the next few months, according to Town Engineer Russ Cornette.

Currently the road has two lanes, which become left-only and right-only turn lanes at the intersection with E. Carolina Avenue.

A third shoulder lane also becomes a left-only turn lane at the intersection.

Because it’s a state road, DOT will be financing the project using their staff and materials.

Cornette said DOT will eradicate the current lane markings and shift them over to help “equalize traffic.”

“This new plan should allow more traffic to maneuver through the intersection in a signal cycle and improve the overall efficiency of the intersection.”
