The Summerville Family YMCA’s year-round swim team, the Tidalwaves, took second place overall at the Georgetown YMCA Winter Swim Meet Jan. 11.

The Tidalwaves brought 34 swimmers to the meet and competed against 107 other swimmers from YMCAs in Georgetown, Beaufort, Newberry and Hartsville.

The team participated in a wide array of events based on the strokes and distances at which they perform best. They had Top 5 finishers in each of the 42 events.

The Tidalwaves are working hard to prepare for the YMCA state championship in February, as well as setting their sights on YMCA Regionals in March. They are also working to become a USA Swim team, and will be the only USA Swim team in the Summerville area when this task is completed.
