Summerville Community Orchestra announces 2012-13 subscription series

Music Director Alexander Agrest has announced the 10th Anniversary for the Summerville Community Orchestra.


Summerville Community Orchestra (SCO), Alexander Agrest, Music Director, announces the 10th Anniversary, four-concert Subscription Series from October 2012 to May 2013. This season there are two series: one in North Charleston at Northwood Baptist Church, 2200 Greenridge Road, and one in Summerville at Summerville Baptist Church, 418 Central Avenue. The concerts:
• From Bach to Broadway, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25 at Northwood Baptist  Church and Friday, Oct. 26, at Summerville Baptist Church.  Music: Bach Toccata and Fugue from Fantasia, Swan Lake Suite, Music from Les Mis and Wicked, Salute to Big Bands, Marriage of Figaro Overture, and Meditation from Thais.  
• Ah, Romance, 7:30 p.m, Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Northwood Baptist Church  and Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Summerville Baptist Church.   Music: Music from Mama Mia, Cole Porter Medley, Massenet Le Cid, Carmen Suite, and Hue Fantasia for Flute with Jenny Glace Bekker.
• Adventures in Music, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Northwood Baptist  Church and Friday, April 5, 2013, at Summerville Baptist Church.  Music: Tchaikowsky Children's Album, Lord of the Dance, Chronicles of Narnia, and an Instrument Petting Zoo!
• Mozart and Movies, 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Northwood Baptist Church and Friday, May 17, 2013, at Summerville Baptist Church. Music: Mozart Symphony #40, Pirates of the Caribbean, That's Entertainment, The Entertainer, and Shostakovich Festive Overture.
New this year: Pre-concert Talks at 6:30 p.m. the nights of the concerts. Admission is free for those with a ticket.
A Subscription (one ticket to each of the four concerts) for adults is $35. Single tickets are $10 per concert. All concerts are free for those under 18. Tickets and subscriptions are available on the SCO website www.summervilleorchestra.com, by phone at (843) 873-5339, and they are also available at the door.
