Summerville murder victim identified
The Summerville Police Department continues to seek information and follow up leads in connection with the shooting death of a Summerville man last week.
John Elliott Hancock, 36, was shot to death in his driveway at about 11:50 p.m. Oct. 3.
According to SPD Capt. Jon Rogers, officers responded to a call about a shooting at 203 Lilac Street in the Robynwyn Subdivision in Summerville. When they arrived, they found Hancock outside in front of the residence; he had been shot multiple times and was unconscious and unresponsive.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said Hancock was pronounced dead at the scene.
While at least two other people were present when Hancock was shot, no one else was injured during the incident, according to SPD and Coroner’s Office officials.
Rogers said witnesses described seeing a midsized four-door sedan, brown or silver in color, with several occupants inside leaving the area at a high rate of speed.
SPD is seeking information on possible suspects and the suspect vehicle. All information can be called into the Summerville Police Department at 871-2463 or Crimestoppers at 554-1111.
The investigation continues.
