Roger Charles Johnson passed away at Summerville Medical Center on October 29, 2012. Roger was born in Seville, Spain on November 19, 1962. He had lived in Summerville since the age of eight.
Roger graduated from Summerville High School in 1980. Roger’s passion in life was playing drums. He loved music. He lived the dream of being a drummer. When he finished school he played with a band based out of Las Vegas. They played a Sheraton Marriott circuit.
Roger loved singing karaoke and his favorite song was New York, New York. In the past he enjoyed a large aquarium where he raised fish. He trained his favorite fish to come to the top of the water and give him a kiss.
Roger was a very kind-hearted person who had a zest for life and loved making people laugh. Roger did not own a car because he would not drink and drive. He walked everywhere.
In lieu of flowers Roger would say, “Buy yourself a lottery ticket, this may be your lucky day.”
About his death, he would say his favorite saying, “Other than that everything’s okay.”
Roger is survived by his mother Joan Johnson, father Hamp Johnson, sisters Melissa Johnson Urzua and Jennifer Johnson Kaiser, his niece Crystal Urzua, Brother-in-laws Jeorge Urzua and Dan Kaiser, and Aloma Ostendorff (who he referred to as his other mom). Special thanks to Ray Gates and all of his friends at Oakbrook Car Wash.
