The Summerville girls’ placed 10th at the Class AAAA Cross Country State Championships Saturday.
Lexington won the meet with a score of 100. The Lady Green Wave team finished at 289, only four points off ninth-place Spartanburg’s mark.
Abby Bozarth was the first Summerville runner to finish, crossing the line in 19 minutes and 56 seconds. Trailing for Summerville were Anya Bunao (20:01.26), Renee Bourgeios (20:28.64), Emily Schuler (20:57.27), Rachel Thurmes (21:24.93), Lauren Halter (21:25.67) and Hannah Potter (23:01.82).
Led by Emily Scott (21:15.87), the Ashley Ridge girls placed 20th. Trailing for the Lady Swamp Foxes were Christin Vahoy (21:22.13), Megan Jones (21:41.55), Alexus Cuttino (21:52.18), Kelly Burchette (22:13.59), Brielle Butler (22:43.66) and Savannah Sutton (22:45.04).
Autumn Stone (20:28.53) placed 62nd individually to lead Fort Dorchester, which did not finish in the Top 20 for the girls’ race.
With a score of 63, Lexington also won the boys’ race. Led by Jackson Ellenburg (17:10.05), Ashley Ridge finished with a 450 mark to place 18th. Trailing for the Swamp Foxes were Tyler Ohsfeldt (17:39.21), Caleb Dorrity (17:39.94), Joseph Walker (17:57.27), Michael Bruno (18:14.57), Will Henley (19:10.95) and Joshua Williams (19:53.90).
Neither Summerville nor Fort Dorchester finished among the Top 20 boys’ teams. However, Summerville’s Matt Lucius (16:43.25), as well as Fort Dorchester’s Roland Otadoy (17:01.60), Koh Matsumoto (17:02.71) and Stephen Gillette (17:04.10), were among the Top 100 individuals to finish.
