I often walk in the morning at the Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex track at Gahagan. We are very lucky to have it in our community. I think the place is awesome and beautifully maintained. My friends coach ball at this park for the children of this community.
However, I'm always really disappointed to see how our community trashes a place that they are blessed to have. I get there early right before the maintenance workers. There are boiled peanuts shells, discard bottles, litter, food containers randomly thrown everywhere around the bleachers and the field. I then see these maintenance men have to pick up other's disgusting trash. I've even seen these grown men in the rain picking up nasty, wet garbage that rude people left for them. It makes me mad for them. I can see how hard these men work to keep the place clean, mow, and all the other maintenance issues that need to be done. I guess people just think the garbage magically disappears. No, some men with enough work to do already are picking up after people who act like two-year olds.
Everyone--please show respect for the Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex and the men that work hard to maintain it.
