Pinewood golfer Reona Hirai won the George Holliday Memorial Junior Tournament last Saturday at Myrtle Beach National Golf Club.
Hirai shot a 74 on the first round North course followed by an even-par 72 on the south course on Saturday.  On Sunday she shot a 76 on the West course to win the girls’ division by a shot over Kelli Murphy of Elgin.
Hirai has been participating in the Holliday Memorial for a handful of years.
“Every time I feel like I am improving maybe on each course” she said.  “I think this time everything went well for me.  My hitting was great and my putting was good.”
Hirai, a junior, is a member of the Pinewood girls’ and boys’ golf teams at Pinewood and has helped lead the girls to three consecutive SCISA state championships.
