Red Cross worker Williette Simmons helps Bentley Cheatham of Summerville as he donates his gift of life. Twenty-two donors took the time to give the gift of life Wednesday, January 2. A total of 66 patients can benefit from the blood collected. The Summerville Journal Scene and The Bank of South Carolina co-sponsored the blood drive in the parking lot of The Bank of Summerville at 100 N. Main St. This is the third year the businesses have co-sponsored a blood drive after the holidays. The American Red Cross is in dire need of blood at this time. With people traveling during the holiday season, blood donations drop at a critical time. To find a blood drive in our area, visit www.redcrossblood.org.
