A fire destroyed a home in Harleyville displacing a family of two.
The fire occurred the night of Dec. 20 at a residence located at 302 Brown Town Road in Harleyville. The Harleyville Fire Department responded to the blaze.
Red Cross volunteers were called out to assist a Harleyville family of two this morning whose home was destroyed by fire.
Red Cross volunteers arrived on the scene and provided the family with temporary housing, funds to help replace food, clothing and shoes lost in the fire as well as comfort kits and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies.
Since December 1, the Red Cross has assisted 67 individuals affected by home fires. Since July 1, the Red Cross has assisted 549 individuals affected by disasters, including home fires, in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties.
