The Fort Dorchester boys’ basketball team earned a big win Friday.
The Patriots defeated Wando 51-48 to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Warriors fell to 8-3.
The teams ended the first period in a 12-all tie and then Wando took a two-point advantage into the half. The Warriors extended the lead to six but the Patriots rallied, outscoring Wando 16-7 in the final period to notch the win.
Fort Dorchester’s Eric Heyward led all scorers with 20 points while Baptiste Staggers added 10 for the Patriots.
The Fort girls lost 49-39 to drop to 1-5 on the season. The Fort only trailed 16-14 at the half, but Wando outscored the Fort 33-24 in the second half.
Wando’s Tessa Akers led all scorers with 14 points as the Lady Warriors improved to 5-2.
Leah Robinson led the Lady Patriots with 10 points while Erika Martin added 9 and Erika Cobb added 8.
