Senior point guard Tinara Brown led the Lady Green Wave basketball team to victory Friday.
Brown scored a game-high 15 points as Summerville earned a 57-25 victory over Berkeley County. Zuri Green chipped in 10 points and Ashley Green eight as the Lady Green Wave earned its first road victory of the season.
“We played with a lot of intensity, especially on the defensive end,” Summerville coach Matt Legare said. “It was a good win because everyone contributed. We got a little banged up and are not at a full roster right now anyway, so it was a good sign to see the starters dial up their intensity and the reserves follow suit.”
JaKaylah Ravenell, Heather Chapman, Rodnesha Capers, Chelsi Anderson, Michelle Padgett and D’Alexis Aldgridge also got in on the scoring for Summerville.
Priscilla Washington led the Lady Stags with six points and Donni Robinson added five points for Berkeley.
Summerville jumped out to a 17-6 lead in the first period and entered the half with a 22-point lead. The Lady Green Wave then put the game away with 19 points in the third period.
Summerville improved to 2-0 on the season while Berkeley fell to 0-1. The Lady Green Wave traveled to Military Magnet Tuesday after press time and returns home for a rematch with Berkeley at 7 p.m. Friday.
