Suspect in pharmacy robberies arrested
A man the Summerville Police Department has been seeking in connection with three armed robberies has been identified and apprehended.
Taylor M. Watkins, 24, of Charleston has been identified as the person responsible for three armed robberies of area pharmacies, two of which occurred about three hours apart on Nov. 4 and one that occurred back in March, according to SPD Capt. Jon Rogers.
No one was injured in the robberies, Rogers said.
Rogers said that pictures of the suspect provided to the public via the media were instrumental in identifying Watkins as the individual responsible for the robberies.
Rogers said Watkins was arrested in the Myrtle Beach area Nov. 5. He faces pending charges within SPD’s jurisdiction, including three counts of armed robbery and three counts of possession of firearm during a violent crime. Watkins also has pending charges in the Myrtle Beach area for robberies that occurred in that jurisdiction.
It is unknown when Watkins will be transported to Summerville for warrant service, Rogers said.
